Mondfest

Wann kommt heut der Mond hervor?
Oder ist er schon vorbei?
Vorher hab ich ihn gesehen
Vor der Haustuer, rund und hell.
Unsre Tochter muss schon schlafen
Morgen ist kein Feiertag
Kleiner Sohn kommt auch zur Ruhe.
Draussen rollt ein Kinderwagen
Haengt ein kleiner Fuss heraus
Grillen singen. Es wird kaelter.
Es war eine schoene Zeit
Und genauso voll von Sorgen
Als die Kinder kleiner waren.
Damals waren wir in China.
Mondfest ist hier auch ganz schoen
Fleischtaeschchen mit alten Freunden
Mondkuchen mit Sturm und Bier
Ausgesuchte kalte Speisen
Alles selbst gemacht und frisch
Maia mag die Paradeiser
Suesz wie jeden Tag in China
Voller Sonne sind die Tage
Nachmittag wird wie im Sommer
War’n wir damals gluecklicher?
War’n wir gluecklicher als hier?
Luft und Wasser sind hier besser
Groszeltern sind auch noch da
Freunde gibt es. Nur das Leben
Wofuer leben wir denn hier?
Heute waer ich gern in Beijing
Oder irgendwo in China.
Ich schlaf gleich am Schreibtisch ein.

did you see the moon last night?
it was here between the trees

up above the danube bridge
in a tree in our backyard
after dinner with some friends

day is bright

the moon is halfway in the sky
the day is bright and blistering
the magpies and the sparrows sing
and feed on berries in the sun
the mulberry has lots of leaves
the maple leaves are dancing down
the roses might be growing still
the older bushes have some fruits
they could be tasty when it snows
the willows shake their yellow leaves
but many of them are still green
the day is bright and blistering
the moon is halfway in the sky
the kids are up, and trumpets sound
down by the school. they sing the same
and may they never live the words.
